Promenade Deck Return to Diagram


 

The officer walking down the promenade deck (pictured above) is believed to be Captain Smith. Titanic had two promenades, port and starboard, located on B Deck (directly under the boat deck) that ran almost the length of the ship. Walking forward you would have dead ended into a wall that separated the public promenade deck from the enclosed private promenade decks of the high-dollar parlor suites. The promenade decks were only accessible to first class passengers. The photo (above right) shows the 1st class entrance and closed gangway door. This is where the 1st class passengers boarded the ship.

 

Below, the promenade deck as it appears today. Kind of eerie looking.
